What the simulator does and doesn't do

An honest list of what Robotry Labs models.

Simulated

  • An Arduino C/C++ subset: variables, integer types with real overflow, functions, arrays, if/for/while/switch, String basics.
  • Digital I/O, pull-ups, analogRead (ideal ADC), PWM (analogWrite, LEDC), tone, pulseIn, interrupts (checked every statement), Serial in and out.
  • A DC circuit solver: resistors, LEDs with forward voltage, buttons, potentiometers, LDRs, relays; current and voltage warnings.
  • Library models: Servo, DHT11/22, LiquidCrystal_I2C.

Not simulated

  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, web servers, file systems — such sketches are recognised and labelled 'needs real hardware'.
  • OLED graphics, NeoPixel strips, SPI devices.
  • Pointers, classes you write yourself, templates and most of the C++ standard library.
  • Exact timing of each instruction, capacitors, inductors and AC behaviour.

Code is never compiled or uploaded from the browser yet. To run on hardware, copy the sketch into the Arduino IDE (or arduino-cli) and upload it.
